The Tribe of Gad, renowned for being warriors who protected the borders of Israel, camped in military tents for battles. The blessing Jacob gave Gad promised that Gad’s descendants would be warred against but would also be victorious against others. Because of this, their symbol is a military tent.

What does Gad represent in the Bible?

Gad (Hebrew: גָּד, Modern: Gad, Tiberian: Gāḏ, “luck”) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the first of the two sons of Jacob and Zilpah (Jacob’s seventh son) and the founder of the Israelite tribe of Gad. The text of the Book of Genesis implies that the name of Gad means luck/fortunate, in Hebrew.
